Defragmenting Your Hard Drive

Open My Computer. Right-click on the C: drive and select Properties.

Under the General tab, click on Disk Cleanup. This box will appear:

After about a minute, this box will appear:

Click OK. It will ask you if you are sure you want to run Cleanup; click Yes. When the program has finished running, right-click on My Computer again. This time select the Tools tab. Then click on Defragment Now.

When the next screen shows up, just select the C: drive (or any other drive you are defragmenting) and click Defragment. Avoid using your computer until the program completes.
