Backing Up Your Hard Drive
Here are three easy ways to back your important papers and projects to the H: drive. Please remember two things:
- You MUST be connected to the network
- Do not back up programs to the H: drive.

After you’ve saved a paper or project to your hard drive, go to the File menu and select Save As. This box will appear on your screen:

Use the drop box at the top (shown) to navigate to your H: drive (the picture shows a G: drive) and press Save.
Open the folder containing your document. Open the H: drive. Click on the document and drag it to the open H: drive.
Click on the Start button at the lower left hand side of your display. Then select the following: Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Backup. The following screen will appear:

Click on Backup Wizard. The next screen will say, "Welcome to the Windows 2000 Backup and Recovery Tools. Click Next. Select the middle radio button as shown below. Then click Next.
The next screen allows you to select what files and folders are backed up.
DO NOT SELECT THE MY COMPUTER OR MY NETWORK PLACES OPTIONS.
Your H: drive has limited space, so only documents and files may be put on the server. Instead, click on the plus signs (+) to show the different folders on your system, and select the ones you need to back up. If you have been saving all your files to My Documents, you need only to make that selection.
Once you have made your selections, click Next.
You will see the following screen. Make sure the drive shown is H: Then click
Next. On the next screen, click Finish.
